Synergy between the PICARD satellite and the SDS experiment

Gerard Thuillier (Service d'Aeronomie du CNRS) and Sabatino Sofia (Yale University)

We will describe the instrumentation and scientific objectives of the PICARD satellite, and the balloon-borne Solar Disk Sextant (SDS) experiment. Because both observe the solar limb and measure the solar diameter and asphericity, they have significant synergy for solar physics and for Sun-climate studies. We will address these common scientific studies, as well as how the SDS and PICARD will complement each other.
